Mobile Education Partnerships (MEP) have a an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced TEFL teacher join a small team working with refugee and migrant teachers on the Thai-Myanmar border. The online teacher will work part-time to prepare and deliver a PET Cambridge course for 6 months from July, 2024 with participants aiming to sit the Cambridge PET exam in December/January.

Background

MEP have been working in Mae Sot for over 20 years as an education charity who support victims of human rights violations living on the Thai/Myanmar border. We train teachers to provide high quality education for migrant and refugee children through in-service training and mentoring.

Project

The project will prepare candidates to take the PET Cambridge exam across a 6-month period. Most of the candidates are teachers in Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs) in the Mae Sot area of Thailand and most of them will have previously completed the KEY Cambridge exam with MEP.

Position Details

  • 2 online sessions per week between Monday and Friday
  • Lessons times from 4:30/5pm – 6:30pm, Thai time; (9:30/10am – 11:30am UK time)
  • The online teacher will work closely and in partnership with our in-field Cambridge teacher who will deliver one extra face-to-face lesson a week
  • Students on the course will be provided with the PET student book.
  • Start date: July 2024
  • This is a voluntary position, but a stipend of 10,000THB (£212) per month will be offered to compensate for time

 Desirable requirements:

  • Teaching qualification and experience of teaching Cambridge English courses
